Bling is regarded with amusement by some, contempt by others and admiration by many. Its ecological, or pseudo-ecological, manifestations on building exteriors are the scourge of the environmentally concerned, who prioritise passive fabric-first strategies. But in the case of domestic interiors there's often - although not always - a strong argument for telling them to mind their own business and although many favour minimalism, others are excited by conspicuous advanced technology or like to have it integrated behind the scenes.
