The design strategy for this house sought to overcome the physical constraints of the typical mews site and the tight planning and conservation restrictions of the area to create a spacious and luminous modern home. Consequently, the key architectural moves rest behind an enhanced but retained period facade. The insertion of a new triple-height void and large frameless skylight at the rear of the house draws natural light deep into the plan on all four floors, modulated by a sculptural glass and steel staircase, which hangs within the space.
