Client City of London Corporation Budget £2.8 million Sector Public realm Deadline 5pm, 6 July Brief The City of London Corporation has launched a design contest calling on practices with maximum revenues of £1.5 million to rehabilitate Finsbury Circus Gardens and Pavilion. The contest invites rising architects and landscape architects to draw up 'exceptional' proposals for a £2.8 million restoration and rethink of the Grade Ⅱ-listed 2.2ha green space, which formerly hosted a bowling green but has been used as a Crossrail construction site for more than a decade. Participating architects must have an annual turnover of at least £550,000 but no larger than £1.5 million -which has led to criticism from small practices excluded by the lower threshold. Five shortlisted teams will receive £1,000 each to draw up initial design concepts for the site, close to Moorgate and Liverpool Street stations, and the winner will work with the City of London to deliver the scheme.
