Mr. Hari Shankar stated that TMMA is an active member of the Capital Goods Committee of Confederation of Indian Industry (CⅡ) and attends its meetings regularly. Since last 2-3 years TMMA took the initiative along with CM to ban or restrict import of second hand textile machinery as it was affecting the growth of the domestic textile machinery manufacturing industry. Due to the continuous efforts of TMMA and CM, the Government had taken the initiative to restrict import of second hand machinery particularly second hand shuttleless looms. He hoped that some final decision in this regard would be taken by the Govt. within a short period of lime. He informed that the Development Council for Textile Machinery Industry was reconstituted under the Chairmanship of the Secretary, Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises.
