Antimicrobial activity of cotton fabric treated with arjun tree bark extract for controlling the gram negative escherichia coli bacterium : experimental study

摘要

Abstract :Arjun tree bark (Terminalia arjuna) was used to assess antimicrobial property on cotton fabric at concentration of 25 gm for 100 gm of bleached and desized cotton fabric with distill water. It was found that at this concentration and technique Arjun Bark is not very much effective in reducing microbial growth on cotton fabric. The colour developed was of brownish soothing shade. As from long back Arjun bark has been used and proved as ayurvedic medicine so its antimicrobial property on fabric as finish is needed in-depth and precise research work. Present research work has opened new avenues and clear the myth related to Arjun Bark tree.
