ITM 2006, which takes place in Istanbul from June 27 to July 2, is being viewed by machinery builders as the trigger for a new wave of investment by Turkish manufacturers. The textile and clothing industries are critical to Turkey, together accounting for 27% of its exports. They employ as many as 10 million people directly or indirectly and contribute $18.7 billion to the country's economy.
