India's Textile Industry Can Achieve $85 Billion Textile Production Accounting for $50 Billion Exports by 2009-2010

The Indian textile industry can achieve textile and clothing production of $ 85 billion, accounting for exports of $ 50 billion, provided the Government recognizes textile industry, as a thrust sector and enunciates fiscal policies for ensuring rapid growth of this sector. Currently India's textile production is $ 40 billion, accounting for textile and clothing exports of $ 13 billion. This means we are talking of more than doubling the present textile and clothing production and trebling the current exports of textiles and clothing.
