Citi-cdra Launches Collaborative Project In Lower Rajasthan For Improving Production And Productivity Of Cotton

The Confederation of Indian Textile Industry's Cotton Development and Research Association (CITI-CDRA) has launched a Collaborative Project for improvement of production and productivity of cotton in Rajasthan during 2008-09. In a statement here, Mr P.D. Pa-todia, Chairman, CITI stated that the Government of Rajasthan, CITI-CDRA and Bayer Crop Science, Mumbai will participate in the implementation of the project in the tribal district of Banswara in lower Rajasthan. Most of the tribal cotton farmers have small holdings and they continue to cultivate old and traditional varieties Low adoption of Bt. Cotton cultivation, coupled with inadequate plant population is resulting in lower productivity.
