Magic Mirror and Smart Shelf

Hong Kong's PCCW Solutions has introduced two new RFID-enabled products - Magic Mirror and Smart Shelf - for the fashion retail sector. Magic Mirror is a body-sized mirror for virtual try-on and mix-and-match. It is connected to a database through a RFID (radio frequency identification) system that allows the user to retrieve product details, check stock levels and also order products. Magic Mirror helps retailers to minimise wear and tear of the real products while allowing customers to "interact" with the virtual merchandises in real time. It also helps garment customers to reduce try-on time in fitting rooms. Smart Shelf, also powered by RFID, is considered a technological breakthrough that enables RFID-tagged apparel to be automatically sensed when handled or chosen by the customers from the garment-hanged shelf, triggering display of product information on an interactive touch-screen.
