The FCC on Dec. 16 announced the authorization of nearly $89.2 million for 669 winning bids in Connect America Fund Phase II funding to expand broadband service to more than 123,000 unserved homes and businesses in rural areas in 21 states. The funding is being awarded in the eighth wave of support from last year's CAF-II auction, bringing to nearly $1.2 billion the amount authorized from the $1,488 billion sale.
