Backing Off the Back Office?

Most service providers have ditched the idea of trying to develop their own operations support systems (OSSs). That was not a surprising finding of research undertaken by Stratecast (a subsidiary of Frost & Sullivan) and commissioned by OSS vendor Comptel. According to the survey results — derived from interviewing "OSS experts" at 74 service providers in 42 countries — only 7 percent of respondents said they favored OSS solutions developed in-house on an exclusive basis.
