FCC EXTENDS DEADLINE FOR OPPOSING CALEA ORDER STAY REQUEST

Granting a Justice Dept. request, the FCC extended the deadline to file oppositions to a request for a stay of the FCC order that applies Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA) wiretap requirements to broadband and VoIP services. The Nov. 30 deadline moved to Dec. 2. DoJ sought the extension because the Thanksgiving holiday clipped days off the period for responding to the stay request, filed by a group that included the Center for Democracy & Technology.
