David Rotman's article makes a great point, showing that low public opinion and high risk make funding research near impossible for all but large companies. As a native Floridian, I am deeply concerned with the future of the Florida citrus industry, which is threatened by a citrus greening disease. A couple of genes from spinach could save this crop.
