The House on the Hill Challenge

Your students have found the perfect site for their dream home. It is a large hill with an incredible view, and they may do whatever they wish to the site without any restrictions. The site does have one very big concern: it is going to be incredibly cold during the winter months as northerly winter winds punish the site. They want to live here and are willing to make adjustments to their dream site and house to make it work. Anything they do to the house must be environmentally friendly, as this is most important to them and one of the reasons they chose this site in the first place. How can they resolve this frigid weather problem and make the home ecologically sound? What might their solutions entail?
