Lyocell staple fibre in industrial applications (part 2)

In the first part of this article (TechnicalTextiles International, October 2000, pages 11-14), Calvin Woodings looked at the history of the development of lyocell fibre and some of its earliest industrial uses. In this second part, he goes on to assess the processing techniques currently applied to convert lyocell into fabrics and their resulting properties. Finally, he explains why the major producers,Acordis and Lenzing, remain optimistic about the markets for technical applications.
