摘要

Videogames and art serves as a springboard for technical communication theory and the role that video games play in communication. Video game artists have contributed a new level of design esthetics and expression, and this book positions video game art as a crucial interdisciplinary mix of digital technologies and the traditions of pictorial art. From interviews with artists to comparisons with traditional art forms, the in-depth essays in this book provide a broad summary of the digital technology field arranged in three sections: "Overviews," "Artists on art," and "Games and other art forms." The first section orients the reader and introduces some of the key artists, concepts, genres of work, and terminology in this field. The second section contains interviews from artists working in video game art and is meant to be read by more than fellow video game artists, because the field is powerfully diversified.
