Paul Sherman incorporates both usability engineering and user-centered design (UCD) into his book about how people in diverse organizations make these techniques work. He sees a problem with practioners' not being "well integrated into product management and development organisations" (8). Another problem is representing the users in the development process. The stories included range from the biggest project you can imagine for a government agency with at least a dozen centers underneath it, to revision of a medical company's design process, to a small company's redesign of their automated phone answering system.
