摘要

Studies in Conservation is attracting increasing numbers of high-quality papers, and as a result readers in 2013 will see an increased number of pages in the four issues that make up volume 58. This issue, 58-2, is the first to have themed content: preventive conservation. This is the subject of much current debate, from the IIC Dialogue for a New Century in 2010 on The Plus I Minus Dilemma to the present. The profession can only reach and articulate a consensus on realistic environmental standards that simultaneously protect the majority of artefacts, identify and give special care to untypically vulnerable artefacts, and align with green concerns, by increasing its knowledge on the effects of the storage and display environment on materials.
