摘要

When an employee blows the whistle on questionable or illegal conduct, is retaliation unlawful, unethical, or just to be expected? The answer to all three questions is "yes, it can be." Because of the devastating effects of recent business scandals, increased emphasis is being placed on developing and adhering to professional codes of ethics as well as integrating ethics into curricula. Effective internal processes enforcing adherence to laws and regulations, in addition to high standards of ethical conduct, are imperative. Employers must distinguish between right and wrong behaviors and react to violations in a responsible manner.
