India's regional navigation system

India says it will be launching a seven satellite regional navigation system from 2009. Each satellite will weigh about 1000 kg. Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman G Madhavan Nair said the spacecraft's design had been completed and the satellites will be launched to geosynchronous orbit by the four stage PSLV. The new system will be used for air, sea and land navigation.
