Orbcomm Acquires Asset Tracking Software Provider

Machine-to-machine messaging service provider Orbcomm has purchased asset-tracking software provider InSync for $11 million in cash and possibly more if certain revenue targets are met, Rochelle Park , New Jersey-based Orbcomm said Jan. 20. InSync of San Jose, California, provides software used for remote monitoring and management of industrial assets with in-situ sensors. Orbcomm operates a constellation of low-orbiting, two-way data communications satellites that can relay information to and from assets located throughout the globe. Orbcomm procured InSync from privately held Identec Group AG of Liechtenstein in a transaction that closed Jan. 16, Orbcomm said.
