Europe Wants Space Rides: Who Will Be the Driver?

Europe's role in the future of human spaceflight will depend greatly on whether they can establish a beneficial partnership with Russia now. It is now up to Russia to make that happen. To haul astronauts and cargo to the international space station, the Russians are designing the Clipper spacecraft. For the same purposes, the Americans are designing the Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV). By the middle of the next decade, both nations are scheduled to have their own means of transportation to go to the space station, as well as to the Moon and to Mars.
