China outlines intense period for human spaceflight, robotic exploration and satellite constellations

China is aiming to make significant progress on a series of major programs over thenext three years.Wu Yansheng, president of ChinaAerospace Science and TechnologyGroup (CASC) — China^ main spacecontractor — told a conference inBeijing in late August that over thecom ing three years the group willfocus on construction of the Chinese Space Station, carry out theC hange-4 lunar far side landingand roving and Chang'e-S sample-return m oon missions, initiate a new round of lunar explorationto establish a robotic research baseat the lunar south pole, launch thecountry’s first independent Marsmission, and begin robotic asteroid sample return and main-beltcomet mission.
