I refer to the letter penned by SSgt Will Bennett, "Viva la France" (November), his unfair condemnation of a corporal uneasy over Britain's bilateral treaty with the French and his pandering to our European neighbours. The historical facts are that the two nations have always regarded each other as enemies. British armies have defeated the French in Africa, Europe, India and North America while our fleets have kept the high seas open.
