The XXVII General Assembly of the IAU: The Central Event of the International Year of Astronomy

摘要

The IAU GA program included, besides strictly scientific events, administrative events and those intended for the general public. One outstanding occurrence was the playing of the popular science movie "Eyes on the Skies," produced under the aegisrnof the IAU for the occasion of the Year of Astronomy. The film was made professionally and can be enjoyed by both astronomers and the general public. The film was translated into several languages, including Russian, which in and of itself is important.
