This volume subtitled 'Salute to the Semaphore' is a comprehensive survey of all the semaphore signalling still in use in the UK and Ireland.. The many excellent photographs were taken largely during journeys in 2017, so some of the equipment illustrated will already have disappeared. A variety of signal boxes also appear in the background - many of these are now 'Listed' and cannot be dismantled even though their function no longer exists. The book also contains a brief history of signalling, plus present and future plans. It is organised on the basis of regional chapters, line by line where semaphore signalling still exists.
