摘要

The distribution of volcanism in Liaohe basin, Eastern China indicates that major rift-bounding faults played an important role in channeling the magmas towards the surface. Major-and trace element and Sr- Nd isotopic studies of the most primitive basic magmas was triggered by the upwelling of a thermally and Geochemically anomalous mantle plume from the deep menatle during Paleogene. The peak of the Volcanism occurred, from 42.4 to 39.5 Ma, coincident with the maximum amount of lithospheric Extension.
