2nd Lt. Barrett Darnell, USAF, 1st Special Operations Communications Squadron, Western Florida Region, is an exemplary AFCEAN. He is chief of network operations in the 1st Special Operations Communications Squadron, managing a $25 million network that supports 13,000 users. He served as the Emerald Coast Chapter's vice president for awards and publicity in 2008. He published articles in both the Eglin Air Force Base and Hurlburt Field papers and submitted write-ups for the chapter in SIGNAL Magazine's Chapter News. He played a pivotal role in resurrecting the chapter's Young AFCEAN program.
