Showcasing Government IT Initiatives Brings Out the Best Products and Practices

With the federal government as vast and complex as it is, it can sometimes be hard to spot the best and brightest information technology (IT) initiatives. When this happens, not only do those agencies that have developed the initiatives lose, but other agencies that might benefit by knowing about the best practices put into place among their fellow departments and agencies lose also. This is part of the reason the Government Information Technology Services Board (GITSB) has developed a new program to showcase leading governmental IT initiatives. GITSB's Center of Excellence for Information Technology (CEIT) serves as a clearinghouse for IT best practices and as a showcase for top-notch technologies in on-line training, procurement, acquisition, electronic commerce, human resources management, employee self-services and many other applications.
