New Happenings

Greetings! I'm happy to check in with you about UPE happenings in 2008-9. We've added new chapters, continued sponsorship of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest and managed to remain in good financial standing despite the double whammy of declining numbers of upper-division students and a troubling economy. We have distributed $50,000 or so for student awards and activities, some through our affiliations with ACM, SIGCSE, IEEE-CS and CCSC. But most exciting for me at least has been returning the annual UPE National Convention to thernproximity of the SIGCSE Technical Symposium.
