If you are anything like me, you are bombarded by information. Even if you turn off your social feeds, you still have plenty of information from books, reports, journals, magazines, newsletters, newspapers, radio, and TV. If you want to share some information or data, swap ideas, tell people about a good project, some new understanding of a coastal area, an interesting way to measure or record shoreline change, or present "old" information so that everyone can has fundamental awareness of beaches and the ocean - essentially, if you want to communicate with more than a few close friends, you need to choose a medium. Part of the decision is based upon your skills. If you can draw, paint or take photos, you might pick media that will let you use lots of visual information to convey your message or tell your story. If you work with words, maybe your medium will be writing that goes into poems, articles, books or chapters of a book, or news stories. If your strength is with your voice, then you might use songs, radio, TV, podcasts or presentations to tell your story. Most of us vary our medium to fit the situation, and use some levels of writing, illustrating, and speaking on a regular basis.
