The Question of Dogs on Beaches

Beach users (n = 2,727) at 25 beaches in Wales and the southern shore of the Bristol Channel, UK, were interviewed during the summer holiday period. The aim was to learn beach users' views regarding the thorny question of whether dogs should be allowed on beaches during the busy summer tourist season, specifically, the questions related to resort and rural beach types. For resort beaches, 82 percent stated that dogs should be banned; for rural beaches, this figure dropped to 53 percent.
