Did this Seawall Cause Erosion?

In March 1976 the authors, while in the employ of the U.S. Army Coastal Engineering Research Center, visited Popham Beach, ME, at the request of the New England Division of the Corps. Popham Beach is at the seaward end of a peninsula at the western side of the mouth of the Kennebec River, directly south of Bath, ME. See Figure 1. The purpose of the visit was to advise the New England Division on a permit application for the construction of a revetment/seawall in front of several cottages.
