The world's biggest cruise ship, the $1.5 billion Oasis of the Seas, was handed over to Royal Caribbean International on 28 October by her builders STX Europe, Turku, Finland. Only sistership Allure of the Seas, which is due to be completed in November 2010, will come anywhere near her size of 225,000gt, 361m in length and with a beam of 66m.rnThe total power output of her engines is 97,000kW, which give a cruising speedrnof 22.6 knots. The US$1.9 billion ship features 16 passenger decks and 2,704 cabins and, on the basis of full occupancy, each can accommodate 6,360 passengers and 2,100 crew members. No other company has indicated future construction of such big ships, and it is unlikely that Royal Caribbean will contemplate additional sisters in the foreseeable future.
