Barge freed from beach

A Team of tugs was enlisted to free the Crowley-owned multi-deck ro-ro barge La Princessa (below) from Sandbridge Beach in Virginia on 17 November 2009 after the vessel had been blown ashore four days earlier following the breakage of two towing lines connecting it to the towing tug Sentry.rnA Crowley subsidiary, Titan Salvage, was engaged to remove the stranded barge using two hired tugs in addition to Sentry. The tug and barge had left San Juan, Puerto Rico on 6 November, and were headed to Pennsauken, New Jersey for discharge. The same storm also tore the retired US Navy fleet oiler Monongahela from her moorings in the nearby James River Reserve Fleet and pushed it ashore near Burwell Bay.
