December start for Discovery

Albamar are due to launch a Vargas-Margarita Island service with HSS Discovery during December and say they have an option to bring a second HSS1500 catamaran into Venezuelan domestic traffic. The former Stena Discovery (1997/19,638gt) arrived in Guanta on 26 October after calling at Barbados, to off-load nine tankers that had been carried on the vehicle deck to provide additional fuel for a transatlantic delivery voyage form Holyhead. Stena are providing technical support to Albamar through its Northern Marine subsidiary and it is now being suggested that Stena Voyager, from the Stranraer-Larne service, could go south. This fits in with Irish Sea rumours that Stena Explorer may move to the North Channel service with the smaller HSS900 craft Stena Carisma reportedly under consideration for a switch to the Irish Sea.
