Production has sold the world's largest ship, the 564,650dwt Knock Nevis (ex-Jahre Viking), to interests in Asia following the end of the vessel's charter with Maersk Oil in the Middle East. Olsen said it made a US$6 million profit on the ship, and that the new owners plan to use the tanker for oil storage.rnThe ship was originally built in the 1970s as the 418,610dwt tankerrnOppama by Japan's Sumitomo yard, but was stretched in the early 1980s by Chinese shipowner C. Y. Tung, who had a 265.5ft (81.45m) mid-section added. The ship emerged as the 1,504ft (458.45m) by 226ft (68.8m) Seawise Giant, featuring a loaded displacement of 647,955 tonnes and a light displacement of 83,192 tonnes. Damaged during the Iraq-Iran war, the ship was sold several times and eventually rebuilt as Jahre Viking, until converted by Olsen.
