Fishery protectors

With the decline of United Kingdom fishing, 66 per cent of all fish landed in the United Kingdom now goes through Scottish ports, and the organisation responsible for the integrated management of Scotland's seas is Marine Scotland, a directorate of the Scottish Government (SG). Established on 1 April 2009, Marine Scotland brought together the functions and resources of the previous SG marine agencies: Fisheries Research Services (Marine Scotland Science) and Scottish Fisheries Protection Agency (Marine Scotland Compliance). Marine Scotland has around 700 staff, a network of offices and laboratories around Scotland, and substantial support assets, including research and protection vessels, and surveillance aircraft.
