Kenya began her Korean war service operating off the west coast of the peninsula on patrol duty in the Yellow Sea as part of the Commonwealth Task Force. During August and September 1950 she carried out shore bombardments in company with the cruiser Belfast, firing more than 1,200 six-inch shells in advance of and during the invasion of the strategically important port of Inchon. She then reverted to patrol duty before, on 7 December, being called to support the Allied ground invasion of Chinampo.
