Around £700,000 was spent on Cal Mac's Ullapool-Stornoway route vessel lsle of Lewis (1995/6,763gt) during a refit at Leith from 27 January that included major engine attention. Works also included painting the entire underwater hull and a fresh coat of external black and white paint to maintain the appearance of the vessei The main starboard Mirrlees engine was stripped down to the crankshaft and rebuilt with all new bearings, while the main engines' cooling pumps were changed to electric power.
