Shareholders of Golden Ocean Croup Ltd and Knightsbridge Shipping Ltd have approved a merger of the two companies. This will create one of the world's largest dry bulk shipping companies. The combined company will be named Golden Ocean Group Limited and will control a fleet of 72 vessels, including 36 still under construction. The merger comes at a time when freight rates for dry bulk ships have sunk to historic lows (see SM, June).
