DFDS dips a toe in cruise waters

DFDS first tried cruising in the 1890s, with trips to the North Cape by the steamer Nidaros (1890/859gt), before a 1910 Western Norway tour by the twin-screw passenger vessel C. F. Tietgen. There was a Mediterranean circuit in autumn 1924 by fleet flagship Frederik Ⅷ(1913/11,850gt), normally used on the North Atlantic. And August 1925 twice brought visits to the Thames after the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley was extended into a second year, the coal-fired turbine steamer spending five days moored off Greenwich on each occasion.
