Distinguished steamers Waverley, Shieldhall and Kingswear Castle, together with the reincarnated diesel-powered veteran Balmoral, head this year's day trip list. There are also many other smaller motor vessels carrying in excess of 100 passengers on coastal and lake trips, and so something for everyone is on offer until well into the autumn. One of the 2015 success stories was the return of Balmoral (1949/800pass), now independently operated by White Funnel Limited. This year a more ambitious programme sees a 53 per cent increase in sailings; it starts with a late May weekend on the Bristol Channel, before moving to the South Coast with trips including a cruise round the Isle of Wight from Southampton, Portsmouth and West Cowes on 11 June. Then it is on to Kent and the Thames, with six upriver sailings passing through Tower Bridge, before moving to the East Coast. There is a Great Yarmouth-Southwold-London Tower Pier voyage on 22 June, with passengers returning by coach. More South Coast sailings take Balmoral into July before visits to Liverpool, North Wales and the Isle of Man, with sailings to and from Douglas.
