摘要

Bad behaviour of ships at sea is well known and, if vessels were human beings, many should be locked up. Vices include excessive motions, wetness, slamming and a tendency, particularly since the advent of certain 'vomit comet' fast ferries, to promote seasickness. If, however, vessels operating in New Zealand's Hauraki Gulf and Auckland Harbour areas seem a little more free of seakeeping deficiencies than most, it might just be because their designs have been tested and refined in software before they were built.
