Dutch yard delivers patrol craft to standard designs

Damen Shipyards of Vlissingen, The Netherlands, recently handed over a new patrol vessel to the Republic of South Africa. Sarah Baartman is the largest vessel in a four-ship order for fisheries and environmental protection vessels, comprising one 83m offshore and three 47m inshore craft, for the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEAT) of the Republic of South Africa. Farocean Marine of Cape Town is responsible for the inshore vessels, designed by Damen Shipyards Gorinchem. The hull of the offshore vessel was built by Damen Shipyards Galati (Rumania) and outfitted at Royal Schelde (Vlissingen), both members of the Damen Shipyards Group.
