Providing a daily, on-demand transport service for hitchers, mountain bikers, construction crews and forestry workers in New Zealand's Marlborough Sounds, operator Arrow Water Taxis has taken its first steps towards bolstering the green credentials of its two aluminium passenger craft, having overseen an engine upgrade on the smaller of the duo. The 8.5m loa craft, which operates in conjunction with a 10.5m loa partner, was previously deploying a 200kW Yamaha diesel stern drive, before Arrow Water Taxis opted for a Hyundai SeasAU S250 type, 3litre marine diesel V6 unit engine this year, in an attempt to boost its environmental standing, as well as to realise gains in fuel economy.
