OSD-IMT, the UK design wing of Netherlands-headquartered Offshore Ship Designers (OSD), has unveiled a new offshore wind farm support vessel concept, intended to serve as a crew transfer and accommodation ship, as well as to provide logistical support services to turbine arrays located far from shore and in relatively deep waters. Given the class name of IMT972, the concept envisages a 72.2m × 17m vessel capable of providing accommodation for up to 60 persons, including 22 crew members, and self-sufficient at sea for a period of between 30-45 days before requiring additional fuel, water and supplies. The vessel would feature two single suites and three double-berth ensuites for crew members, in addition to 30 single cabins for passengers, eight of the latter being fitted with Pullman berths.
