New coatings for Rudderpropellers

Propulsion equipment specialist Schottel is set to boost the lifespan of its Rudderpropeller output, via the adoption of a new anti-corrosive coatings regime for these units. As part of the production shake-up, during the factory stage, the underwater elements of the Rudderpropellers will be treated with several layers of a two-component epoxy resin, designed to yield 2.3 times superior abrasion resistance and approximately 60% greater adhesion compared to standard marine coatings. The above-water sections, meanwhile, will be treated with a two-component polyurethane coating.
