Interceptor 43' offers speed and stability

Italy's Vittoria Shipyard has successfully launched the prototype of its Interceptor 43' craft, whose design, the builder reports, has been based on the standards upheld by the US Department of Homeland Security's (DHS') Customs and Border Protection unit. Designed to combat piracy, smuggling and illegal immigration, the compact, six-person Interceptor 43' features an overall length of 14.04m (or 13.22m moulded), an overall width of 2.81m and a height of 1.98m. The craft has been developed to draw 0.91m and to displace 9.93tonnes when fully laden or 9.44tonnes in typical working conditions.
