Fertile ground for ATB concept

Utah, US-based Savage Marine Management Co. has invested in a new articulated tug-barge (ATB) solution, dedicated to bulk fuel and chemical transportation in the US domestic trade. To be operated from Savage Marines Tampa office, Florida, the 42m ATB tug Abundance was delivered by Nichols Brothers Boat Builders in the State of Washington at the end of June, and married with the 23,500dwt liquefied ammonia barge Harvest, which was also constructed in the Pacific North West, at Vigor's facilities in Portland, Oregon. Harvest features a length of 154.8m, a 29.3m beam and a depth of 15.5m.
